National PARK(ing) Day 2010 is Friday, September 17th!
PARK(ing) Day is an annual, one-day, global event where artists, activists, and citizens collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spots into “PARK(ing)” spaces: temporary public parks.
Anyone can participate in PARK(ing) Day, though it is strictly a non-commercial project, intended to promote creativity, civic engagement, critical thinking, unscripted social interactions, generosity and play.

To see where this years PARK(ing) Spaces are, visit http://parkingday.org/parking-day-map. There may also be a handful of Spaces around town that didn’t make it onto the map, so keep an eye out. It even looks like the weather is supposed to clear up as the day progresses, so head on out and check out PARK(ing) Day. Don’t forget to bring a quarter or two to help plug the meter!
