National PARK(ing) Day 2010 is Friday, September 17th!
PARK(ing) Day is an annual, one-day, global event where artists, activists, and citizens collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spots into “PARK(ing)” spaces: temporary public parks.
Anyone can participate in PARK(ing) Day, though it is strictly a non-commercial project, intended to promote creativity, civic engagement, critical thinking, unscripted social interactions, generosity and play.

Congrats PARK(ing) Day friends on a successful day! The weather held out and we had Old Tyme Music, A Bird and Baby Sanctuary, a Picnic Operetta, a Water Runoff Ecological Education, and a bunch of Mobile Parks. Big props to Space 150 and make-better.org for attempting to create 26 1-hour temporary parks. I think they managed a total of 20, which is a huge feat!
